32 workers dividen on two shifts worked alternately day and night for a week to complete the construction of the tanks. 

Grødaland biogas plant

Implenia built the new Grødaland biogas plant at Klepp, Jæren outside of Stavanger. The biogass plant is used for treatment of different sludge fractions, biosubstrat from household waste and other organic waste.

Project scope. Earlier IVAR had a sewage treatment plant at Grødaland industrial area. The new biogas plant is used for treatment of the sludge from the sewage treatment plant, as well as other wastewater treatment plants in the southern IVAR region. In addition, various sludge fractions from other regions and organic waste from other industries, is processed in the new biogas plant.

The contract also consisted of the establishment of biogas plant, decomposition tanks and smaller buildings in concrete and brick. The biogas plant is dimensioned for processing 22,600 tons TS per year (2035) which enables it to produce a biogas amount of approx. 65 GWh per year. That makes Grødaland one of the largest biogas plants in Norway.

  • Leveling the area and establishing an embankment
  • Establishing and operating the construction site for the work carried out in the contract
  • Biogas plant: basal area of approx. 900 m2, building is cast in situ with exterior isolation and cladding, roof made with hollow core elements and a baldachin surrounding the construction.
  • Two cast in situ foundations for decomposition tanks á 4000 m3.
  • Slipforming of two decomposition tanks á 4000 m3 and casting of roof with exterior isolation and cladding,
