New transfer tunnel. The Sauda project included the construction of a transfer tunnel from Maldalselva for utilisation by Sønnå power plant. The aim of the project was to achieve improved utilisation of Sønnå power plant.

Project scope. A 3455-m long transfer tunnel was constructed from Maldalselva for utilisation by Sønnå power plant. The tunnel was constructed with a cross-section of 21 m2. The inlet in Maldalselva was constructed as an overflow inlet (Tyrolean inlet). The annual effect is estimated at around 35 GWh.
